Employee Transfers

Summary

Employee supports immediate current-state reassignment of department and reporting manager. Designation and work location can be updated through the employee profile, but no unified transfer request, approval, effective date, or scheduled transfer process was confirmed.

Audience

  • HR managers, HR executives, and HR administrators
  • Business analysts, product owners, solution architects, and QA engineers

Purpose

Describe supported organization changes without presenting separate updates as a complete governed transfer workflow.

Business transfer model

The “business transfer decision” represents HR intent, not a confirmed in-product request or approval object.

Confirmed behavior

  • Department may be changed to an active department or cleared.
  • Reporting manager may be changed to another active employee or cleared.
  • Self-management is prohibited.
  • Department and manager changes retain previous/new context in employee history.
  • Designation can be changed as part of core employee information and must be active.

Requires confirmation

  • Approval roles, request states, reasons, effective dates, future-dated changes, and cancellation.
  • Whether designation must belong to the new department during reassignment; this rule is confirmed at creation but not consistently enforced on later changes.
  • Whether work-location change is part of a transfer.
  • Cross-tenant, company, legal-entity, branch, or geographic transfer.
  • Downstream reassignment of attendance, leave, payroll, expense, performance, workflow, assets, or access.

Evidence basis

Employee change commands and approved Organization assignment documentation confirm independent current-state updates. They do not establish a separate transfer lifecycle.
