Expense Lifecycle

Summary

Creation produces Pending. Pending may become Approved or Rejected; Approved may become Paid. A Pending claim can be deleted, which is deletion rather than a Cancelled state.

Audience

Claimants, decision participants, operations, product, and QA.

Lifecycle

No transition reopens a Rejected or Paid claim. No Draft, Submitted, Cancelled, or Reimbursed status exists. Workflow-managed Pending claims reject direct approve/reject commands and wait for a terminal workflow decision. Native and compatibility approval are Transitional because the compatibility path also checks whether the related Payroll month is frozen.
