Troubleshoot Leave Cancellation
Summary
Safe triage for unavailable or failed Leave cancellation.
Audience
Employees or administrators affected by the scenario, first-line support, QA, service owners, and architects.
Symptoms
Cancel is absent, confirmation fails, or status/balance does not reflect cancellation.
Scope
Self-owned Pending cancellation in current UI and source-defined direct/compatibility cancellation semantics.
Cause
The cause must be confirmed from current state and source-backed evidence.
Likely causes
- Request is not Pending or not self-owned in the current UI
- Concurrent state change
- Authorization/tenant mismatch
- Persistence or downstream projection delay
Safe diagnostic steps
- Refresh and confirm the current status before another action.
- Record whether the action was absent, rejected, or returned ambiguous success.
- Check balance/event state only after confirming cancellation persisted.
Resolution
Use cancellation only when the current path permits it. Escalate approved-cancellation or ambiguous outcomes rather than issuing alternate state changes.
Safe resolution
Use only the resolution above and approved operational processes. Do not modify databases, replay messages, bypass authorization, or repeat ambiguous state-changing actions.
Validation
Confirm Cancelled status and the source-defined balance/downstream result for that path.
Evidence to collect
Collect the safe UTC window, route/operation category, response/status category, deployed version, affected scope count, and a correlation identifier. Exclude credentials, tokens, personal Leave details, employee identifiers, payloads, configuration values, and private topology.
Escalation
Leave owner; Payroll/Notification owner only when confirmed downstream reflection is missing.
