Troubleshoot Leave Types and Policies

Summary

Safe triage for unavailable types, policies, and stored-but-unenforced behavior.

Audience

Employees or administrators affected by the scenario, first-line support, QA, service owners, and architects.

Symptoms

A Leave type is unavailable, a policy appears ignored, or direct and compatibility behavior differs.

Scope

Extracted LeaveType/LeavePolicy storage, calculator use, compatibility UI, and enforcement maturity.

Cause

The cause must be confirmed from current state and source-backed evidence.

Likely causes

  • Type/policy absent or inactive
  • Name matching or tenant scope mismatch
  • Field is stored but not enforced
  • Current UI has no extracted type/policy management
  • Compatibility ownership differs

Safe diagnostic steps

  1. Use approved reads to confirm the type/policy exists for the tenant.
  2. Check the policy-field reference for enforcement maturity.
  3. Identify the actual direct or compatibility path.

Resolution

Escalate configuration changes through Leave administration/product governance; do not infer or force an unenforced policy.

Safe resolution

Use only the resolution above and approved operational processes. Do not modify databases, replay messages, bypass authorization, or repeat ambiguous state-changing actions.

Validation

Use an approved synthetic request to verify only the source-backed enforced field.

Evidence to collect

Collect the safe UTC window, route/operation category, response/status category, deployed version, affected scope count, and a correlation identifier. Exclude credentials, tokens, personal Leave details, employee identifiers, payloads, configuration values, and private topology.

Escalation

Leave product owner and service owner; frontend owner for missing UI expectations.
