Final Appraisal and Promotion Boundary

Summary

Approval finalizes the overall appraisal result and emits lifecycle signals; it does not implement promotion, reward, or Payroll actions.

Audience

HR administrators, managers, employees, product owners, implementation partners, engineering, QA, support, architecture, and security reviewers as applicable.

Overview

Direct approval follows HR review. Workflow approval can apply a terminal decision from Self Submitted. Reopening returns an Approved or Closed appraisal to editable state.

Confirmed business behavior

Approval records approver identity when available and finalizes the result. Reopening clears prior approval markers and requires the staged flow again. Domain closure exists but has no direct business command.

Business rules

Only HR Reviewed can be directly approved. Workflow approval is idempotent on repeated terminal callback. Compatibility can mark its flat record Approved without the canonical staged events.

Maturity

The capability is Transitional because canonical staged behavior coexists with compatibility behavior and incomplete authorization governance.

Requires confirmation

Final-result visibility, sign-off authority, appeals, close cascade, promotion readiness, succession, rewards, and Payroll use are Not implemented or require confirmation.
