Workforce Scheduling Payroll Impact

Summary

Payroll does not consume shift definitions directly. Shifts influence effective attendance thresholds; approved attendance snapshots then provide payable categories, hours, overtime and shortfall to payroll calculation.

Audience

Payroll and HR administrators, managers, product, QA and solution architects.

Business flow

Verified outcomes

  • Payable days include present days, paid leave, weekly-off days and holiday days.
  • Absent and unpaid-leave days contribute to deductible-day reporting.
  • Hourly pay uses approved hours; daily/monthly pay uses payable-day logic with employee eligibility bounds.
  • Attendance overtime plus manual overtime is valued with the employee overtime rate.
  • Attendance shortfall hours are valued with the employee shortfall deduction rate.
  • Payroll freeze protects approved payroll periods from attendance changes through a payroll-lock integration.

Responsibilities

Attendance owners approve accurate time outcomes; Leave owns paid/unpaid leave; Payroll validates employee compensation, rates, snapshots and run results. Shift administrators are responsible only for the upstream rules.

Limitations

No direct shift premium, night allowance, weekend multiplier, location allowance, split-shift pay or schedule-vs-actual variance exists. A shift change after attendance approval does not itself recalculate a frozen payroll result.

Requires confirmation

Production snapshot freshness, reconciliation, rounding and jurisdictional payroll policy require confirmation.
